Dr. Shashank Joshi, an Endocrinologist presented a paper at the American Association of Clinical Endocrinology in San Diego reporting the contribution of the digital technology platform developed by IIT-M start-up in reversing T2D. He stated that diabetes remission is a norm, especially in affected patients of seven years or less.

Joshi, a member of the state’s Covid task force has already stressed the importance of AI and IoT in helping patients keep track of blood sugar levels and associated fluctuations.  In his paper, 141 patients out of 167 were reported to have remitted their conditions in less than 180 days using the digital tool. He also added that along with blood sugar levels, these digital tools can measure patient happiness, stress levels, and sleep pattern.

Dr. Suresh Damodaran, co-author of the paper stated that this paper is about precision medicine with every patient having a different and unique treatment method. In diabetes, the glycemic index is a measurement criterion, however, eating ‘idlies’ affect blood sugar levels differently in different patients. Thus, helping our patients by informing them about the addition or removal of ‘idlies’ in their morning breakfast to get their blood glucose levels in control.
